WHY HOME WITH MONTESSORI?

I’ll never forget the first time I was observing a Montessori classroom. There was a child ironing small hand towels with a real child-sized iron. Another one was watering plants on the shelves. Two other children were serving their own snack while having a conversation. An older child was reading a book to a younger friend. Three other children were counting beads. Another child was cleaning up a spill on the floor with a child-sized mop and a bucket. Everyone knew what to do. Happiness and confidence radiated through their little bodies. Then a four year old girl approached me. She offered me a muffin. “We made them” she said. I almost fell off the chair I was sitting on. “Yes, please” I said almost speechless. Looking at the girl and the freshly baked muffin, I thought to myself: “What was I doing when I was four?”

These children weren’t different than any other children in their potential. The only difference was that they spent their time in an environment that was set up with children in mind. The activities they were doing facilitated their self-learning and independence. And there was a loving and respectful adult supporting their efforts. And while Montessori in your home will look little different. You can still apply Montessori principles in your home and have your child benefit from them.

Home with Montessori is here to help you out with all that because all children deserve the best start in life.
